Starting in September 2014, eight young Christians (aged 19-29) will be the first participants in an emerging young adult ministry in the Edmonton diocese. They will live in community for 10 months in Ascension House (the rectory of Christ Church) in downtown Edmonton; balancing real-world responsibilities, such as working and volunteering, with an active and disciplined spiritual life. “Souls in Transition”, the annual dinner and silent auction in support of Anglican Student Ministries, was held May 2nd at the Faculty Club. Guest speaker the Rev. Susan Oliver Martin, university chaplain and rector of St. George’s Edmonton, said the largest-ever turnout to the annual fundraising event, 160 tickets were sold this year, is an indication that people are “interested in the lives of young people on campus and in our city”.
